Both teams enter this stage with strong serving and plenty of attacking depth, but they have shown different tendencies throughout the tournament. Poland usually looks to take control early, while Germany has already come back to win several difficult matches. The winner will advance to the semifinals.

Poland

Poland has controlled most of its matches at this European Championship with tough serving, a strong block, and a wide range of attacking options. Even when the offense is not operating at its best, Poland rarely becomes predictable and continues to vary its attack. Outside hitter Tomasz Fornal stood out in the 3-0 round-of-16 win over Latvia. He scored 19 points, converted 13 of 19 attacks, and added six blocks.

Germany

Germany has been inconsistent during the tournament, but its ability to adjust during matches is valuable in the playoffs. The team trailed Bulgaria 2-0 in the round of 16 before changing its approach and winning in five sets. Middle blocker Anton Brehme made a major contribution with 14 points, converting 11 of 12 attacks for a 92% success rate and recording three aces. His efficiency through the middle gives Germany another option when opponents focus on defending the pins.
