Los Angeles Lakers vs Houston Rockets 30 April 2026 Prediction

Houston avoided a sweep in the series against the Lakers by winning Game 4, 115-96. That result did little to change the bigger picture for Ime Udoka’s team. The Rockets still have no margin for error, and one more loss will end their season at 1-4. The question now is whether the Lakers will finish off a difficult opponent in five games.

The Lakers Saved Energy

The Lakers have no reason to feel good about their last game. Their offensive issues were already visible in Game 3, a 112-108 win, but that night Houston made even more mistakes. In Game 4, however, every player expected to carry the offense in the absence of Doncic and Reaves fell short. None of LeBron, Smart, or Kennard even reached 10 points. The Lakers’ top scorer ended up being Ayton with 19 points.

Still, the offensive outlook should improve in the next game. Austin Reaves is expected to return after missing the last nine games.

Houston Managed Without Durant

The Lakers are not the only team dealing with roster issues in this first-round series. Houston has also had to cope without its top player. Kevin Durant missed three of the first four games, and in the one game he did play, he was more noticeable for his nine turnovers than for anything productive.

Even so, the Rockets handled Game 4 without him. Houston’s starting five had an excellent game and finished with just one point fewer than the entire Lakers roster, 95 to 96. Still, Game 5 should look different. The Lakers are likely to play with much more intensity. That puts extra pressure on Alperen Sengun.

The best option here is Lakers -3.5 at 1.83.

Both teams have clear offensive limitations, so there is little reason to expect a major change now. After a poor showing in Texas, the Lakers should be sharper defensively, which makes under 208.5 at 1.93 a solid option.

Higher-odds pick: Houston is likely to stay competitive deep into the game. The Rockets have nothing left to save for later, so they should throw everything into this matchup. In the previous games in Los Angeles, Houston held up well before halftime but faded after the break. This should be another physical game, and a reasonable value play is both teams under 106.5 points at 2.75.
