Karen Khachanov vs Ethan Quinn 16 June 2026 Prediction

Despite being ranked No. 15 in the world, Khachanov was not seeded at the ATP 500 event in Halle. That could give the 30-year-old Russian extra motivation in what has been a difficult season. Karen has not had many big wins, and he will soon need to defend a lot of ranking points. Can he get past American player Ethan Quinn in the first round?

Karen has been a consistent presence in world tennis, staying among the elite for nine years. He has not become a top-five player, but he has held a steady place in the top 20. His best result this season was a quarterfinal run at the Rome Masters.

Karen is solid in every area: his serve is reliable, and both his forehand and backhand are strong enough. The problem is that Khachanov often struggles against direct rivals: since the start of 2024, he has lost 23 of 28 matches against top-20 players.

On grass, Karen had an excellent stretch last year, winning 10 of 13 matches. That included a strong run in Halle, where he reached the semifinal and beat Bergs, Auger-Aliassime, and Etcheverry along the way.

Ethan comes to Halle on a three-match losing streak. After winning a strong Challenger event in Phoenix, the 22-year-old American has slowed down. He may find his form again in August, when the North American tournaments return to the calendar. For now, Quinn has to get through the grass swing.

Ethan has a similar issue: over the last year, he has won only one of seven matches against top-20 players. If a player cannot beat top opponents, it is hard to contend for the later stages of big tournaments. Quinn also has major problems on second serve: in 2026, he has won only 50% of points behind it.

Quinn is not a regular on grass, having played only 11 official matches on the surface in his career. Last year, he looked decent in Mallorca, coming through qualifying and reaching the second round of the main draw, but at Wimbledon he struggled badly against Majchrzak (1-6, 4-6, 3-6).

• Main prediction: Khachanov has already beaten Quinn before. Last year, he routed the American at the Paris Masters (6-1, 6-1).
