Bayern Munich vs Bodo/Glimt 10 September 2026 Prediction

Gevorg Danielyan   Prediction by   Gevorg Danielyan     September 9, 2026

The betting market ranks Bayern Munich among the top five favorites to win the 2026/27 Champions League. Vincent Kompany’s side begin their campaign at home with Bayern Munich vs Bodø/Glimt. Bayern have won their opening Champions League match in each of the last 22 campaigns and enter this game as heavy favorites. They are expected to extend that streak.

Bayern Shift Focus to the Champions League

Bayern opened the season with three straight wins. They beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the German Super Cup, routed Stuttgart 5-1 in the first Bundesliga matchday and defeated Osnabrück 4-1 in the German Cup. Before the Champions League opener, Kompany’s team dropped its first league points in a scoreless draw with Schalke, largely due to squad rotation. The manager rested Harry Kane and Michael Olise, with both key players coming on only in the second half.

Bayern will look to control possession, apply sustained pressure and counterpress immediately after losing the ball. Luis Díaz and Olise will attack down the flanks, while Kane will combine the roles of center forward and No. 10. Bayern’s main defensive task will be stopping Bodø/Glimt’s quick vertical attacks after turnovers. The Norwegian side presses aggressively and will try to exploit Bayern’s high defensive line. Center backs Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah must protect the space behind them. Joshua Kimmich will also have a major role. He is responsible for progressing the ball and finding Olise between the lines while providing cover for the defense.

Bayern reached the Champions League semifinals last season, where they lost to eventual winners PSG following 4-5 and 1-1 results. They opened the league phase with four convincing wins and won all four home matches by a combined score of 12-2. Bayern also dominated clearly weaker opposition, beating Pafos 5-1 away and recording home wins over Club Brugge, 4-0, and Union SG, 2-0. Those results show the scale of Bodø/Glimt’s challenge.

Bodø/Glimt Continue Their Strong Form

The Norwegian league season is well underway, and Bodø/Glimt are in excellent form. Kjetil Knutsen’s team won eight straight league matches after the break to take sole possession of first place. They scored at least twice in seven of those games. The quality of domestic opposition is limited, but the team has also performed well in Europe. Bodø/Glimt advanced through two Champions League qualifying rounds, eliminating Union SG after 3-3 and 3-2 results, with the second match decided in extra time, before beating NEC Nijmegen 3-1 and 3-0. Their attacking output has remained consistent.

Knutsen’s team favors aggressive pressing and quick transitions, even against top-level opponents. Bodø/Glimt should have periods when they push forward and create chances. Patrick Berg and Sondre Fet are expected to form the central midfield pairing. Berg starts attacks and creates chances, while Fet provides intensity and competes for second balls. Left winger Jens Petter Hauge will look for space behind the defense, while forwards Ola Brynhildsen and Andreas Helmersen will make runs and handle the finishing. Bodø/Glimt need to stick to their approach and use the space behind Bayern’s high line.

Bodø/Glimt reached the Champions League round of 16 last season, where they were eliminated by Sporting CP following 3-0 and 0-5 results. They had previously knocked out Inter with 3-1 and 2-1 wins in the first playoff round. Bodø/Glimt scored 22 goals in 12 Champions League matches, including 14 against Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Atlético Madrid and Inter. The Norwegian side is willing to attack against leading European clubs and should continue to look for chances in Munich. Knutsen’s team is unlikely to defend in a low block for the entire match.

Predicted Lineup: Bayern Munich vs Bodø/Glimt

Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Davies; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Saibari, Díaz; Kane

Out: Gnabry, Buchmann (both injured)

Manager: Vincent Kompany

Bodø/Glimt (4-4-2): Haikin; Sjøvold, Nielsen, Bjørtuft, Bjørkan; Auklend, Berg, Fet, Hauge; Brynhildsen, Helmersen

Out: Gundersen, Evjen, Aleesami, Mikkelsen, Riisnæs (all injured)

Manager: Kjetil Knutsen

Bayern Munich vs Bodø/Glimt Prediction: Bayern Munich Handicap -2.5

Main prediction: Bodø/Glimt should test Bayern at times, but the difference in quality is likely to be clear in Munich. Bayern scored 43 goals in 14 Champions League matches last season and regularly won by wide margins at home. Bodø/Glimt are not suited to a very low block and prefer to take risks. That approach worked in several matches during the previous Champions League campaign, but playing openly against Bayern will give Kane, Olise and the rest of the attack plenty of space. The main pick is Bayern Munich -2.5 at 1.68.

Goals prediction: Bayern have scored 11 goals in four matches this season but conceded in three of them. They should create plenty of chances, although their defense has not been flawless. Bodø/Glimt scored 22 goals in 12 Champions League matches last season and found the net against Tottenham, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Atlético Madrid and Inter. Knutsen’s team is also in strong current form, scoring at least twice in nine of its last 10 matches across all competitions. The pick is Both Teams to Score: Yes at 1.65.
