Wales vs Ghana 2 June 2026 Prediction
For the first time in history, an African national team is coming to Wales. For Ghana, this match is an important part of its preparation for the upcoming World Cup. Wales, meanwhile, will try to respond in front of its home fans after a disappointing playoff exit in the spring and celebrate the 150th anniversary of the country’s football association.
Wales Has What It Needs to Win
Wales recently failed in its most important home match of the last two years, losing to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the playoffs (1-1, 2-4 on penalties). Even so, the British side usually handles lower-level opponents well at home. Recent World Cup qualifying matches against North Macedonia (7-1) and Kazakhstan (3-1), as well as Nations League games against Iceland (4-1) and Montenegro (1-0), support that point.
Another positive for the home fans is the return of experienced defenders Ben Davies and Connor Roberts, who have 163 combined caps for the national team. Both players should add stability at the back, while Roberts also provides regular attacking support from the flank.
In attack, Wales will place much of its trust in Harry Wilson, who was the team’s top contributor in qualifying with five goals and two assists. He can play between the lines and organize attacks, but he is also capable of finishing chances himself, including from distance. Wilson’s impact on Wales’ attacking output is clear: without him this fall, Wales managed only one goal against Liechtenstein (1-0).
Ghana’s Competitiveness Is a Major Question
The Black Stars will face two European teams at the World Cup, England and Croatia, so the choice of friendly opponents makes sense. However, Ghana has struggled to compete with European sides recently. In two matches against Austria (1-5) and Germany (1-2), the African side generated less than 1.0 xG combined, while its goals came largely from good fortune and brief lapses in concentration from the opponents.
Ghana’s chances of scoring in Cardiff look limited, especially with key forward Antoine Semenyo likely unavailable after scoring 17 goals in the Premier League last season. Even if the Manchester City player joins the squad in time, his match readiness would still be uncertain.
Ghana’s defense is also a weak point. Most of the back line is made up of players from second-tier European leagues or from top-five league clubs that spent last season fighting relegation. It is not surprising that against Germany and Austria, Ghana allowed more than 2.5 xGA in each match and conceded seven goals in total.

Wales vs Ghana Prediction: Wales to Win at 1.90
- Main Pick: Wales will not be going to the World Cup, but motivation should not be an issue. The anniversary occasion and the desire to make up for the playoff failure should push the team forward. Wales has its strongest attacking options available, while the return of key defenders should improve stability at the back. Ghana is still struggling defensively, and its attacking absences reduce the visitors’ chances of scoring. The African side is also still adapting to Carlos Queiroz, who was appointed manager only in April. Based on these factors, we recommend considering Wales to win at 1.90. A higher-risk option is a 2-0 correct score at 9.50.
- Total Pick: Wales usually produces well in attack at home, scoring at least two goals in five of its last eight such matches. Ghana, meanwhile, allowed at least 2.5 xGA in recent games against Austria and Germany and conceded at least two goals in both. It makes sense to consider Wales team total over 1.5 at 2.08.
