Mirra has successfully defended the 430 ranking points she earned for last year’s quarterfinal in Paris. The world No. 8 is in good form. However, at this point, the 19-year-old Russian has lost two of her three Grand Slam quarterfinals. Her only win at this stage came at the 2024 French Open.

Cirstea has also been very effective on return during this tournament, converting 24 of 51 break points. She has been putting heavy pressure on opponents’ second serves, which also affects them mentally. Sorana looks to attack from the first shot rather than get involved in long rallies.

Sorana has won 14 of her 17 clay-court matches in 2026, beating players such as Sabalenka, Noskova, and Ostapenko. A couple of weeks ago, she reached a clay-court WTA 1000 semifinal for the first time in her career. That happened in Rome.
