Portugal vs Nigeria 10 June 2026 User Predictions and Betting Tips

Rodney Sawyer

OVER (3).
Portugal should control the tempo and create enough chances, but Nigeria can still add some pressure in a friendly like this. Over 3 looks fair if the game opens up a bit, though the line needs goals from both sides or a strong finish.

OVER (3).
portugal usually have enough quality to pueh the game tempo and create chances, while nigeria can contribute too in a friendly where the rhythm is often more open. lver 3 goals looks a reasonwble option here, but still not too risky.

OVER (3).
Portugal’s tempo should create chances, and 3 goals looks reachable if the game opens up.

UNDER (3.5).
Portugal look the likekier side, but this still has the teel of a warm-up fixture with some caution in it. Under 3.5 hoals appeals at the price, as these friendlies can be tidy rather than wild.

UNDER (2.5).
portugal should have the edge, but this feels like a spot where the tempo can stay a bit controlled, so under 2.5 looks worth a small play. friendlies like this usually get a lot of changes and not much full-throttle chaos, so 2 goals or less is very live.

UNDER (2.5).
Portugal should control the tempo, but Nigeria can keep it tight. Under 2.5 looks decent at the price.

OVER (2.5).
Portugal can push the tempo here, and 2.5 looks live with Nigeria able to nick one too.

HANDICAP 2 (1).
Portugal are the clear side the market wants, but 2.75 on Nigeria with a 1-goal head start brings some value if this stays tight. In a friendly, that bigger price can make sense because Portugal may control it without really blowing it open, so Nigeria +1 is the contrarian look.
James Whitaker

UNDER (3).
Portugal should have enough control and patience for this one, but a friendly can still stay a touch open in spells. Under 3 looks the sensible angle at this price, with both sides likely to keep the rhythm measured rather than chase a wide-open game.

HANDICAP 1 (-2).
portugal have the edge in quality and depth, and this squad looks built to control the game if the rhythm clicks. nigeria can be awkward, but the -2 is playable if portugal turn pressure into early goals.

Portugal vs Nigeria 10 June 2026 Prediction

As in 2022, Portugal will play their final friendly before leaving for the World Cup against Nigeria. The hosts would clearly welcome a repeat of that result, as they beat the Super Eagles comfortably by four goals four years ago (4:0).

Portugal Are Unbeaten at Home

For Roberto Martinez, the match against Nigeria will be his 40th as Portugal manager. His team enters this milestone game in excellent shape. The most notable factor is Portugal’s active unbeaten home run, which has lasted more than two years and now covers nine matches of different importance. It is also worth highlighting home wins over top-20 FIFA-ranked opponents during that stretch: Croatia (2:1) and Denmark (5:2 after extra time).

The main talking point from Portugal’s previous friendly against Chile (2:1) was a fight involving Rafael Leao, who received a deserved red card and will now miss the upcoming match against Nigeria. However, this is not a major loss for the hosts. The Milan winger had a poor end to the Italian season with his club and has never been especially consistent for the national team. His last goal contribution for Portugal came back in 2024, so replacing him with Valencia’s Goncalo Guedes, who scored against Chile, should not be a problem.

A much more important factor is the return of PSG central midfielders Vitinha and Joao Neves. Together with 2025/26 Premier League Player of the Season Bruno Fernandes, they form one of the strongest midfield units in modern soccer. It is no surprise that Portugal won each of the last three matches in which all three started.

Major Squad Absences

Nigeria have not lost in regulation across their last 12 official and friendly matches. However, the penalty shootout in the Africa Cup of Nations semifinal against Morocco did not go the Super Eagles’ way, and they had to settle for bronze. They have not faced any other top-20 FIFA-ranked teams over the past six months. Their recent record against European teams is also worth noting. A draw against Poland, who failed to qualify for the World Cup, in their latest friendly (2:2) extended Nigeria’s winless run against European opposition to four matches. Against top teams from the continent — Portugal, Croatia, England, Spain, and France — the visitors lost each of their last five meetings.

There are currently only two Nigerian players who can clearly be placed in the “star” category: Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman. Neither is in the current Super Eagles squad. According to national team manager Eric Chelle, the Galatasaray striker is working through a potential club move, while the Atletico winger has been given rest after a demanding season. That significantly reduces Nigeria’s attacking potential.

There are also concerns in defense. Away from home, Nigeria have regularly conceded two goals in friendlies. Poland, Egypt (1:2), and even a modest Jordan side (2:2) have all scored twice against the Super Eagles, making it a three-match trend. The injury to starting defender Igoh Ogbu, who had started each of the national team’s last six matches, also weakens the back line.

Portugal vs Nigeria Prediction: Portugal Handicap -1.5

  • Main Prediction: Without their two best players, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, Nigeria are unlikely to compete with one of the main favorites for the upcoming World Cup. With two-time Champions League winners Vitinha and Joao Neves back from rest, the hosts should have even more control in midfield. Roberto Martinez’s team is excellent at wearing opponents down through long spells of possession, and that should be a key factor against a physically strong opponent that is weaker in quality and spends a lot of energy pressing. Portugal have also won by at least two goals in seven of their last nine home friendlies, so we are confidently backing Portugal to win with a -1.5 handicap at 1.76. The 4:1 correct score at 17.00 is also worth considering.
  • Total Prediction: Nigeria’s defense, weakened by Igoh Ogbu’s absence, will face an opponent with many attacking options. In addition to Portugal’s quality in central midfield, the hosts overload the flanks and actively involve their fullbacks in possession. Cristiano Ronaldo’s scoring threat also has to be accounted for. This will be a difficult test for Nigeria. Under the current manager, Portugal’s home matches average 4.53 goals. There is value in backing over 3.5 goals at 2.32.
