Bolivia vs Algeria 11 June 2026 Prediction

After beating the Netherlands, Algeria will test themselves in North America against a lower-level opponent. Without their well-known high-altitude home venue and with a weak attack, Bolivia are unlikely to create major problems for a strong Algerian side. Can Mahrez and company head into the World Cup in a good mood?

Bolivia Without Their Main Advantage

The hosts will not go to the World Cup after falling one step short, losing to Iraq 1:2 in the intercontinental playoff. Across their last 10 matches, Bolivia have lost 7 times and won only 2. Those wins also came against weaker opponents: Trinidad and Tobago (3:0) and Suriname (2:1).

Against Algeria, as in their previous match against Scotland (0:4), Bolivia will not have their main advantage — their home stadium. They are the hosts only on paper, as the match against the African side will be played in the United States. Bolivia’s high-altitude home venue has always caused problems for opponents. For example, in World Cup qualifying, Oscar Villegas’ team picked up 17 points at home and only 3 away.

From a soccer perspective, Bolivia do not have a particularly strong squad. That is especially true in attack. Five forwards were called up for this camp and the matches against Scotland and Algeria, but together they have only 13 national-team appearances and 2 goals. That limited selection forced Villegas to use Santos attacking midfielder Miguel Terceros up front against Scotland, and it did not solve the issue. There are no major stars in the other lines either. The only names worth highlighting are Akron defenders Fernandez and Rocha, as well as young Shakhtar player Arroyo.

Algeria Have a Strong Defense and Higher-Level Players

In their previous eight matches, including five Africa Cup of Nations games and three friendlies, Algeria lost only once: they could not get past Nigeria in the continental semifinal (0:2). Aside from that defeat, the Desert Foxes have six wins and one draw over this stretch. Their defense also stands out. Across those eight matches, the African side conceded only three goals and kept six clean sheets.

Algeria’s most recent match was away against the Netherlands. Despite being underdogs, the Green and Whites not only kept a clean sheet in Rotterdam but also won 1:0. Of course, it is fair to say they had some luck: Algeria finished with 0.48 expected goals, while the Netherlands produced 2.19. Vladimir Petkovic’s team scored from a chance total that did not fully support the result.

Petkovic’s success has not gone unnoticed by the country’s football federation, and the manager’s contract was extended by two more years. Of course, it is not only about the Swiss coach, as he has several strong European-level players from top leagues available. Mahrez and Mandi remain key veterans, with more than 200 national-team appearances between them. In midfield, Lille’s Bentaleb and Twente’s Zerrouki play important roles, while in attack Mahrez is supported by Marseille’s Gouiri, Wolfsburg’s Amoura, and Feyenoord’s Hadj Moussa. The latter scored the winning goal against the Netherlands in the previous match. The only concern is the condition of Dortmund’s Bensebaini, who missed the end of the season through injury but was still called up for the World Cup. Still, with Manchester City’s Ait-Nouri available, left back is one of Algeria’s strongest positions, so even Bensebaini’s absence would not be a major problem.

Bolivia vs Algeria Prediction: Algeria Handicap -1.5

  • Main Prediction: The nominal visitors are favorites in almost every area and have a much stronger squad. Recent matches also showed the difference in level. Bolivia were heavily beaten by a solid but not elite Scotland side (0:4), while Algeria, even with some luck, beat one of the medal contenders for the upcoming World Cup, the Netherlands (1:0). The African side have no major squad losses, and there has been no indication of heavy rotation. Bolivia have very little going for them here, given the quality of their players and the fact that they are playing away from their usual home conditions. We are backing Algeria to win with a -1.5 handicap and a 0:2 correct score.
  • Total Prediction: Bolivia have shown a weak attack over their last 10 matches. Six games in that stretch ended without a goal for the Greens. It is hard to expect that trend to change against Algeria, considering the visitors’ defensive level. Algeria have kept clean sheets in their last three matches, including against Uruguay (0:0) and the Netherlands (1:0). We are taking Bolivia team total under 0.5.
