Jakub Mensik vs Alexander Zverev 5 June 2026 Prediction

Spain’s young talent lasted only through the first set. After that, Zverev used his experience and took control against Hodar. The world No. 3 is now one step closer to the Grand Slam title he has been chasing, and the draw looks more open without Sinner, Alcaraz, and Djokovic. His next opponent is Mensik. The tall and powerful Czech has gained major confidence in Paris. Can he stop the German from moving closer to his main goal?

Surface speed: 4/10

Mensik

Mensik’s first deep Grand Slam run was expected to come on outdoor hard courts. Instead, it is happening right now on clay in Paris, where he is playing some of the best tennis of his career and showing strong determination.

Jakub is an all-court player who builds his game around a powerful serve and strong groundstrokes from both wings. That approach has worked on clay, as his current run in Paris shows. Still, there are some concerns. He lacks elite mobility, consistent sliding, and endurance in long rallies. That could be a serious issue against Zverev in baseline exchanges. Also, in Paris, he has won 80% of his service games, which is solid but not exceptional.

Mensik is at his best on outdoor hard courts, but this season he has also produced good results on clay. Not every European clay event went well for him. Still, he has won 73% of his matches on the surface this season, going 8-3.

Zverev

There were questions around Zverev after his poor result in Rome, where he lost a set 6-0 to Darderi unexpectedly. However, he has prepared well for Roland Garros over the last couple of weeks. During his run on the Paris clay, his mentality has looked strong.

Zverev’s defensive skills are excellent. He can stay in long baseline rallies while waiting for the right moment to counterattack. His strong serve also gives him many easy points and helps him take control of points before he is forced into a defensive position. His numbers in Paris are impressive. His first-serve percentage is 72%, which has helped him win 92% of his service games and save 63% of break points.

Clay is Zverev’s preferred surface. That makes sense given that it is where he has the best career win rate: 74% (187-253). This season, he has won 82% of his matches on clay, going 18-4.

Tournament Form

  • Mensik’s path to his first career Grand Slam semifinal has been very difficult. On the Paris courts, he has faced strong opponents and also dealt with extreme heat. He played the maximum number of sets against Navone (6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6) and Rublev (6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3), which took a lot of energy.
  • Zverev has had relatively few problems on his way to the French Open semifinals. He had only minor difficulties against Halys (6-4, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2), de Jong (7-6, 6-4, 6-1), and Hodar (7-6, 6-1, 6-3). He handled Bonzi (6-3, 6-4, 6-2) and Machac (6-4, 6-2, 6-2) much more comfortably.

Jakub Mensik vs Alexander Zverev Prediction: Zverev -5.5 Games Handicap at 1.91

  • Main prediction: Zverev has rarely had a better chance to win the title in Paris. Sinner, Alcaraz, and Djokovic are not in the field, and he has reached the Roland Garros semifinals while dropping only one set. His elite level has been clear from match to match. Against Mensik, the difference in experience at this stage should be important. Zverev will be playing a Grand Slam semifinal for the 11th time, while the Czech is at this stage for the first time. The world No. 3 has also already reached three Grand Slam finals. His French Open numbers are strong as well: he has won 95% of his matches against opponents outside the top 20 (37-39) and has won all five meetings against players ranked between 21st and 30th, where Mensik currently sits at No. 27. Since the first day in Paris, Zverev has beaten every opponent by at least seven games, so we recommend Zverev -5.5 games at 1.91.
  • Total prediction: Mensik has spent a lot of time on court on his way to the semifinals, while Zverev’s matches have not featured many games. The key question is which pattern this matchup will follow. Mensik has used much more energy, spending four more hours on court than Zverev (15:51 to 11:51), and he finished his quarterfinal much later. For that reason, we do not expect a long battle against the German. None of Zverev’s matches in Paris have gone over 39 games, and his average match length is 30 games. The average across both players’ matches is only 34 games. That is why we like Under 39.5 games at 1.74.
