Torino are back in the top 10 for the first time in a while, and their fans are hoping for a European spot. Reaching the top six will be difficult, though. Next up is Como, who have beaten Torino in all three of their previous meetings.

Torino’s Improved Form Under Abate

Torino started the season poorly but have found form ahead of this meeting with a Champions League side. Manager Ignazio Abate used the extended international break well, and Torino have won their last three Serie A games. Those wins came against Udinese (2-1), Parma (3-0) and Monza (3-2), none of whom are among the league’s leading teams. Torino also still struggle to play through an organized press.

The hosts have fewer concerns over injuries. Franco Israel, Emirhan Ilkhan, Ricardo Rodriguez, Niccolo Fortini and Rolando Mandragora are sidelined, but Mandragora is the only regular starter among them. Daniel Bragança, on loan from Sporting CP, can cover for him in midfield.

Como Maintain Their Form

Como’s unfamiliar schedule, with games roughly every three days, has not affected their results so far. Cesc Fabregas’s side have won both of their Champions League home games 4-1, against RB Leipzig and Manchester United. Their only defeat in the competition came away to Feyenoord (3-2). Como have also taken 17 points from eight Serie A matches, four more than at the same stage last season.

Como use possession to pull opponents out of position before attacking the space they leave behind. Under Fabregas, they combine patient buildup with a high press and quick forward passes. Rotation and injuries have not disrupted them. In the 2-0 win over Sassuolo, Como were without starting defender Trevoh Chalobah and four attacking players: Assane Diao, Moise Kean, Jesús Rodríguez and Mattia Liberali. Of those five, only Kean and Liberali could return against Torino. Nico Paz is expected to start after spending the Sassuolo game on the bench.

They have hosted two teams competing in Europe this season and lost both games, 2-1 to Milan and 2-0 to Roma. Como arrive on a run of three wins by at least two goals, and their press could cause problems for Torino. The pick is Como -1.5 at 2.77.
