Armenia vs Kazakhstan 6 June 2026 Prediction
A derby between two national teams from the post-Soviet region. Unfortunately, neither side qualified for the upcoming World Cup, so this match can be seen as part of their preparation for the Nations League in the fall. Armenia will try to end their overall poor run, while Kazakhstan will look to improve their head-to-head record.
Armenia Will Field a Solid but Not Full-Strength Lineup
Armenia were drawn into a very difficult World Cup qualifying group. They managed to earn a home win over Ireland (2-1), but lost the reverse fixture and their matches against Hungary and Portugal by a combined score of 18-1. Still, the opponents were not the only issue: in their only spring friendly, Yeghishe Melikyan’s team lost 2-1 to Belarus at home. To be fair, their main star, creator, and scorer Eduard Spertsyan missed that game. This time, he is available. So is another important player, Nair Tiknizyan, who had a solid season for Red Star Belgrade with 1 goal and 7 assists across all competitions.
Another RPL player, starting defensive midfielder Ugochukwu Iwu, will miss the match. That area currently looks the most vulnerable, as the four natural players called up for this role have only six total caps for the national team. Armenia’s attacking potential is also reduced: Vahan Bichakhchyan, Lucas Zelarayan, and Tigran Barseghyan are not in camp. These are experienced players whom the coaching staff appears to have rested while giving younger players a chance. Artur Serobyan, who already has 26 caps at age 22, could support Spertsyan, along with Grant-Leon Ranos, who scored the winning goal against Ireland.
Kazakhstan Have Not Beaten Similar-Level Opponents for a Long Time
Under Talgat Baysufinov, the Hawks extended their losing streak in friendlies against opponents of a similar level to five matches. The loss to the Faroe Islands (0-1) followed matches against Belarus (1-4), Azerbaijan (2-3), Armenia (1-2), and Luxembourg (1-2). Their last win over a comparable opponent came back in the fall of 2023, when they beat Northern Ireland despite producing only 0.09 xG. It seems they used up their luck in that match.
Kazakhstan have arrived with almost their strongest squad. The only notable absence is Bakhtiyor Zaynutdinov, who missed most of the season because of injury. For the national team, he can play across the attacking line. Even without him, Kazakhstan have a decent group up front, led by Maksim Samorodov, who recorded 5 goals and 10 assists for Akhmat in the RPL, as well as Dastan Satpayev, a rising star who started making an impact in the Kazakhstan league at age 16.

Armenia vs Kazakhstan Prediction: Kazakhstan Double Chance at 1.79
- Main prediction: Both teams are dealing with poor runs: Armenia followed their World Cup qualifying defeats with a home loss to Belarus, while Kazakhstan usually get positive results only against weaker teams or when they are clear underdogs. However, Kazakhstan’s recent negative stretch did not all happen under Baysufinov. Armenia’s squad issues are also concerning, as they affect both defense and attack. The Hawks have only one major absence. According to media reports, Spertsyan wants to leave Krasnodar, so Armenia’s main star may not play at maximum intensity in order to avoid injury. This option looks interesting: Kazakhstan double chance at 1.79 and correct score 1-1 at 6.00.
- Goals prediction: Armenia have not kept a clean sheet since early summer 2022. Since then, they have played 38 matches of different levels. Kazakhstan have not beaten a similar-level opponent for a long time, but as noted above, they failed to score in only one of their previous six such matches. Both teams to score is available at 1.88.
