Brazil vs Egypt 6 June 2026 Prediction

Brazil will finish its preparation for next week’s World Cup with a friendly against Egypt. Historically, the Pharaohs have been a very favorable opponent for the Selecao. The teams have met six times before, and Brazil has won all six matches.

The Defensive Line Is Back at Full Strength

Carlo Ancelotti took over Brazil at a difficult point, following a disappointing Copa America 2024 and a poor start to World Cup qualifying. As usual, however, he found a way to manage a squad full of stars, and across the last five friendlies, the five-time world champions have lost only to France (1-2). That run also included a 2-0 win over Senegal, the true winner of the last Africa Cup of Nations and the team that eliminated Egypt in the continental semifinal.

Brazil arrived in the United States in strong form. In its final friendly before traveling, the Selecao again showed its major attacking potential, scoring six goals against another World Cup participant, Panama (6-2). Brazil generated 3.55 xG, but its finishing quality made the difference. The depth in attack is impressive. Vinicius, Matheus Cunha, and Raphinha are expected to start, while Endrick, Ryan, and Igor Thiago are ready options from the bench. Neymar’s injury has received plenty of media attention, but his current role in this Brazil team is limited. He has not been called up under Ancelotti so far.

The two goals conceded against Panama should not be overemphasized either. Brazil’s center-back pairing in that friendly was experimental, with Bremer, who had a poor club season at Juventus, and domestic-league defender Leo Pereira. Against Egypt, Brazil is expected to start its first-choice central defensive duo of Gabriel and Marquinhos, who were unavailable earlier because of their involvement in the Champions League final. That should make the back line much more reliable. Gabriel’s return looks especially important: Brazil kept a clean sheet in each of the last three matches in which he played.

Salah Is Ready, but That May Not Be Enough for Egypt

Egypt played a friendly against Russia just a few days ago, and despite winning, it did not show anything exceptional. The Pharaohs did give the Cairo crowd one goal to celebrate (1-0), but they did not create much more against an experimental Russian defense, finishing with 1.15 xG.

Egypt’s limited attacking output could have been explained by Mohamed Salah’s absence, but he should be available against Brazil. However, in the last two matches in which Egypt’s main star played, against Nigeria and Senegal, the North Africans failed to score at all. Egypt has also struggled badly against South American teams. In its last six matches against South American opposition, it has not won once and has lost five times.

As for Hossam Hassan’s squad issues, most of them are in defense. Starting left back Mohamed Hamdy of Pyramids, who has 36 caps for Egypt, will miss the match through injury. Nice center-back Mohamed Abdelmonem also missed the entire club season and is far from peak form after only recently returning from injury. That will make it even harder for the nominal visitors to contain Vinicius and Brazil’s other attacking options.

Brazil vs Egypt Predicted Lineup

Brazil (4-2-3-1): Alisson – Wesley, Gabriel, Marquinhos, D. Santos – B. Guimaraes, Casemiro – L. Henrique, Raphinha, Vinicius – Cunha

Will Not Play: Rodrygo, Militao, Estevao, Neymar (all injured), Antony, Joao Pedro, Richarlison, Savinho, Thiago Silva (all out of the squad)

Manager: Carlo Ancelotti

Egypt (4-2-3-1): El Shenawy – Hany, Abdelmaguid, Abdelmonem, Fatouh – Ashour, Ateya – Salah, Zizo, Trezeguet – Marmoush

Will Not Play: Hamdy, Fouad, Issa (all injured)

Manager: Hossam Hassan

Brazil vs Egypt Prediction: Brazil to Win With a (-1.5) Handicap at 2.04

  • Main Pick: The favorite is clear in this matchup. Egypt should be more organized than Panama, but it is unlikely to contain Brazil’s attacking quality for the full 90 minutes. Many of Hossam Hassan’s players lack the individual level needed for this kind of test, while key defender Mohamed Abdelmonem is not in optimal condition. Brazil’s constant movements into central areas and line-breaking passes should force the Pharaohs to shift out toward the flanks, which can break their compact defensive structure and open up space. In their last three matches against top-15 FIFA-ranked opponents, Egypt suffered two defeats and arguably should have lost all three, as Spain clearly outperformed them by xG in March’s friendly (2.52 to 0.17) despite the 0-0 scoreline. We believe the nominal visitors have used up their luck, so we are backing Brazil to win with a (-1.5) handicap at 2.04. A higher-risk option is the correct score of 3-0.
  • Totals Pick: With Marquinhos and especially Gabriel back in the lineup, scoring against Brazil should become much more difficult. Egypt is also likely to defend in a low block, which should limit its chances for stylistic reasons. Still, Brazil’s powerful attack can push this game over the total on its own. Under Carlo Ancelotti, matches involving Brazil average 3.09 goals, and the South Americans have scored nine goals across their last two friendlies. It also makes sense to consider over 2.5 goals at 1.65.
