Brentford vs Liverpool 17 October 2026 Prediction

Gevorg Danielyan   Prediction by   Gevorg Danielyan     October 15, 2026

Brentford are unbeaten in the Premier League and have already beaten Chelsea 3-0 at home. Next they host Liverpool, who followed a 3-0 home loss to Manchester City with a 6-3 win in Austria. Liverpool’s attack delivered in Europe, but their defense will need to improve to get a result in London.

Brentford: Strong Results Despite Injury Concerns

Keith Andrews’ team sit in the top four, though their unbeaten run has not been without defensive concerns. Brentford came from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Aston Villa, equalizing just two minutes after Villa’s second goal. Villa produced 2.28 xG to Brentford’s 1.06, and Kelleher made five saves. At home, Brentford have beaten Tottenham and Chelsea 3-0 without conceding. They capitalize on mistakes, but their attacking approach can leave Kelleher exposed.

Brentford are likely to press Liverpool and attack quickly through Thiago, but injuries could complicate Andrews’ lineup. Schade is doubtful with a shoulder injury, Schuster has an ankle problem, and Damsgaard’s status is unclear. Lewis-Potter has already filled in as a playmaker when Damsgaard has been unavailable, with Diouf taking over at left back. Ouattara can replace Schade, van den Berg is back in the squad, and Jensen could provide an option off the bench in midfield. Andrews has alternatives, though changes to the lineup could affect the team’s cohesion.

Liverpool: European Win Amid Poor League Form

Liverpool responded to their 3-0 defeat against City with a 6-3 win over LASK, with Barcola scoring a hat trick. Wirtz found space between the lines, while runs behind LASK’s high defensive line created chances. But Liverpool conceded three times after both starting center backs went off. Iraola acknowledged that resting key players had disrupted the team’s structure. Their Premier League form remains a concern: they are ninth, with two wins in six games and just one goal across the past three weekends.

Liverpool could be without several key players in London. Gravenberch is suspended, and Szoboszlai is questionable. Either Nyoni, who played in Austria, or the experienced Endo may need to start alongside Mac Allister in midfield. Isak and Gakpo have not rejoined full team training, leaving few attacking alternatives to Wirtz, Barcola and Koumas. The reserves offer pace, but against Brentford’s press, Liverpool will need to play out carefully and cover for turnovers.

Brentford vs Liverpool Predicted Lineup

Brentford (4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Kayode, Ajer, van den Berg, Diouf; Yarmoliuk, Janelt; Antony, Lewis-Potter, Ouattara; Thiago.

Availability: Milambo, Furo and Dasilva are injured; Schade, Damsgaard, Collins and Schuster are questionable.

Manager: Keith Andrews

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Araujo, Jacquet, van Dijk, Kerkez; Nyoni, Mac Allister; Munoz, Wirtz, Barcola; Koumas.

Availability: Gravenberch is suspended; Bradley, Ekitike and Leoni are injured; Isak, Gakpo and Szoboszlai are questionable.

Manager: Andoni Iraola

Referee: John Brooks

Last season, Brooks averaged 3.75 yellow cards and 20.92 fouls per game. He sent off three players and awarded four penalties in 12 matches. This season, his averages have risen to five yellow cards and 19.75 fouls per game.

Brentford vs Liverpool Prediction: Brentford to Win at 2.44

Main pick: Liverpool have won two straight Premier League road games without conceding, but this trip comes at a difficult time. Brentford have taken seven points from three home matches, with a 7-1 goal differential, and have had a full week to prepare. Liverpool, meanwhile, have had to travel and recover between games. Gravenberch’s suspension could also make them more vulnerable to mistakes in midfield under pressure. Brentford can punish turnovers without dominating possession. The hosts have injury concerns of their own, but their home form and extra rest give them the edge. The pick is Brentford to win at 2.44.

Goals pick: Brentford have scored at least twice in four of their six Premier League games, so their attack does not depend solely on Schade’s pace. Against Chelsea at home, they produced 2.65 xG, including 1.48 from set pieces. Crosses and second balls give them another way to create chances when quick attacks are not available. Yarmoliuk and Ajer, rather than the forwards, also created openings against Aston Villa. Liverpool will need to account for Thiago’s supporting runners, particularly at set pieces. The pick is Brentford team total over 1.5 goals at 1.90.
